From the book "History of Cass County, from 1825 to 1875", by Howard S. Rogers, we know that an 1832 or 1833 entry was made in the land records for the town of Porter in the name of "S. Weed" ‎(page 203)‎. From page 206 of the same book, we know that Seth Weed served as the Town Clerk for Porter for three of the years between 1838 and 1842.

Also from "A Twentieth Century History of Cass County, Michigan", by L.H. Glover we have the following, on page 599. From the biography of Henry C. Benson. " He ‎(Joseph Benson)‎ was married in Porter township in 1844 to Miss Harriet Weed, a daughter of Seth and Catherine Weed. Her father was for many years a justice of the peace and held the office of supervisor and other local positions, the duties of which were always promptly, faithfully and capably performed by him. He was a prominent man and teacher in the county and exerted a strong and beneficial influence for the intellectual development and moral progress of his locality, also upholding its legal and political status."

We also know from "Family Maps of Cass County Michigan" by Gregory A. Boyd. That Seth Weed owned property in Township 7S Range 13W, section number 29. This land was patented to Seth in 1838.

Unfortunately, a cursory review of Cass county death records reveals nothing as to the passing of Seth and Catherine Weed. A review of the census records would indicate that Catherine Slawson Weed passed between 1840 and 1850, and that Seth Weed died between 1850 and 1860.
